Firetruck

One cannot imagine the excitement of a small boy and big trucks and equipment.  Wow, I honestly never thought I would get excited to see a cement mixer, rock truck, wheel loader, trash truck or any other type of large equipment truck-type-thing driving!

Imagine the excitement when "L" saw there was a firetruck at the spring picnic!  I think he climbed on and inside that truck at least half a dozen times before the day was done.  "K," on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with it.  He wanted to look at it from a distance, and not go on board.  I think this truck was the highlight of the picnic for "L!"

Spring Picnic

The annual spring picnic was held for the boys' childcare center.  The weather was absolutely amazing.  Honestly, it was a bit on the hot side: 87 degrees, but fun was definitely had by all.  There was the playground, sidewalk chalk, parachute and an art station.  Plenty of fun, for 300 kids and parents!

"K" recently moved up to the pre-school room, but he still remembers his two-year-old friends.  Here one friend and "K" are having fun with the new sidewalk chalk.  Later we enjoyed hamburgers, beans, fruit, cookies and chips for lunch.  We had some tired, but very happy boys after the lunch picnic was completed!

Something to Cheer About

I truly miss my previous professional world of youth, and many of the activities associated with it.  My current work world simple is not the same, so I try to volunteer when I can, to help out at some of the kid events.  This particular event is one of them.  I love this January/February event!

One of the things that I get to do, is assist in the poster and tattoo station.  I purchased new markers this year, as the ones we have used for the previous years, were getting a bit on the dry side.  I created some stencils for kids to use in the game day poster designs.  It is fun to watch what kids create!  I did apply one tattoo this year, but I put it on upside down!  So, I think is best that I stay away from that job.

The picture is of our table, ready for kid sign creators.  We cheered really loud during the basketball game, but were not victorious this year.  So, I think I might have to make some better signs next year ;)!

A Tasty Cake

The wedding happened over two months ago, and Mr. Fixit and I were missing an important "piece" of the wedding reception -- the cake. It's not that we did not have a cake, it's just that the entire cake was gobbled up by guests! So, here is the story:

Some elf friends of mine helped me bake and decorate nearly 925 cookies for the festive event. The guest list showed 376 attendees, so we thought that 900 cookies would be the perfect solution. After all, who can resist delicious sugar cookies?

The cookies, snack mix, mints and buffet dinner were enjoyed by all the guests. Then we decided to do the ceremonial cutting of the cake. Mr. Fixit and I each enjoyed one delicious bite. Soon the toasts and dance happened - then before we knew it - the night had disappeared, as did the cake!

It appears that our guests had the munchies and finished off the cake for us. We were a little forlorn at not being able to enjoy some more bites, and jokingly shared this with our fabulous cake lady - Cindy Casper.

Well, she totally surprised us this week with not only a new cake to enjoy now, but also a smaller version for us to freeze for the ceremonial first anniversary! Thank you Cindy, and a photo has been added for you to check out her talent!
