Toadly Froggy

Lots of big and little amphibian guests have been hopping around lately - and it makes driving into the carport at night an eagle eye adventure! These little guys sure do love the cool concrete, and can often be found hiding in a corner, or hopping across the concrete pad.

I have honestly never seen so many toads? frogs? in my life -- they seem quite happy here. I actually can't tell the difference between a frog or a toad, so I have decided that both are welcome. I will report one piece of good news though -- there are very few mosquitos out here -- and I am thanking the amphibian contingent for doing their part =).

With three ponds, a chorus of ribbets and croaks can be heard echoing in the night. It is a nice serenade, and peaceful too!

  1. Ok, now Ms Andrea-- The difference between our frogs and a toads ARE--Frogs jump and toads hop; Frogs live mostly in water and toads make holes in the ground and are very territorial; They both sing to attract a mate. And you cannot get warts from toads. Toads secret at mucus when dogs pick them up to make the foam at the mouth! From my reptiles and amphibian unit! You are so lucky that you have bunchs of both because you are right they eat bugs!!!
